Philmont Scout Ranch High Adventure Base

Philmont Scout Ranch is an adventurous wilderness with unique outdoor opportunities for both youths and adults seeking extraordinary experiences. Located near the town of Cimarron, New Mexico in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of the Rocky Mountains. 

Amid June 8 and August 22 is peak season and an estimated 22,000 Scouts and Scout Leaders backpack through the Ranch's vast backcountry. During the summer months, over 1,130 seasonal staff are responsible for operating the Ranch.

Philmont Scout Ranch is also home to the Philmont Training Center and the Seton Museum. The Training Center is the main station for BSA's national volunteer training programs.

Philmont is a working ranch as well, so you may witness small herds of cattle, horses, burros and bison grazing the land during your visit.
